Coming from Italy, Anthony Maturi started sharpening knives and scissors on the now famous bicycle. Realising that this was far from the ideal way to grind, he opened a specialist workshop in Ladypool Road and later moved to the present larger site at Coventry Road, Small Heath.

Professional sharpening is still a major part of todays work and skills have been passed down from Father to Son. It is estimated that to date over 3 million scissors have been sharpened and knives too numerous to count.

In the early 1920's, Anthony decided to expand into the new lawnmower market, along with shear and saw sharpening.

Today we are one of the largest mower specialists in Birmingham and are main agents for all the leading manufacturers.

As we are still a family run business, we can offer a complete and unique sharpening service, still offering the traditional values and personal service which seems to be disappearing in todays world.
